Creative Office Ranger
Lauren’s work at SRT includes: Websites, Shopify online shop, social media, events administration, IT support and purchasing, office administration, health and safety, equipment/resources, training resources, SRT policies and compliance, Wild Seal Supporter and Adoption Scheme, and anything else required by shop customers, Trustees, Director, Rangers and Volunteers!
Volunteering from a very early age, she has gained experience at St Tiggywinkles (early 1980s); as a vet’s assistant; Windsor Safari Park; Whipsnade Safari Park; Sussex Biodiversity Centre; Cats Protection (Brighton and Truro branches); BDMLR; The Woodland Trust and Cornwall Mammal Group. She was a PA and South East Reserves Administrator at RSPB South East Office for five years but had to leave due to illness. Once recovered, she went on to do an Art Degree at Brighton University, specialising in Printmaking. She then moved to Cornwall and helped Jan Loveridge in cataloguing the considerable work done by Vic Simpson at the Veterinary Wildlife Investigation Centre. Together, they made sure all his work is now stored with relevant organisations, including the Natural History Museum and Cardiff University. After briefly working at Chelonia with Nick Tregenza, she saw the opportunity to work for the Seal Research Trust and began this post in January 2023.
Work experience includes: PA, Administrator, IT Support, IT Engineer, book release organiser, graphic designer, website designer, logo designer, Supplies Officer, window display designer, book designer, jeweller, artist and antique jewellery salesperson and restorer - specialising in Whitby Jet.
Lauren’s hobbies include: Wildlife watching, harvest mouse hunting (with Cornwall Mammal Group), printmaking, painting, ethical taxidermy, photography, pottery/ceramics, learning piano and guitar, jewellery making, antique jewellery restoration, crafts, gardening, DIY, sign painting, crochet, sewing, music, gigs and festivals, and reading.
