Get involved

We love working as a Seal Team with people of all ages, backgrounds, knowledge, skills and life experiences joined by a shared interest in seals. We ALL have something to offer seal conservation efforts and YOU can help in lots of different ways:

Report a seal sighting by emailing us with the date, location and number of seals on land or in the sea to sightings@sealresearchtrust.com

Get information and updates about seals:

Take Action for Seals

Protect the Marine Environment

  • Pick up marine debris (especially looped items) from around our coastline

  • Use plant based cleaners and scourers at home as well as microplastic trap bags when washing plastic clothing

    Get Involved in Seal Research

  • Do regular surveys at your local seal site

  • If you’re interested in volunteering with us, we would recommend you attend at least three of our online, monthly meetings. This will inform you about our work and give you an idea about how you can get involved. Make sure you have the correct name on your Zoom account, so we know who you are.

  • Once you have done that, please email seals@sealresearchtrust.com and let us know how you would like to help. You can volunteer for any aspect of our research, including: surveying, data processing, analysis, presentation, report writing, etc.

    Learn More About Seals

  • Attend one of our online courses run by our Director Sue Sayer MBE for the Field Studies Council:
    ~ Discovering UK Seals

~ Seal Field Skills to Inform Conservation

  • Watch our talks and videos on our YouTube Channel

    Support Seal Conservation

  • Buy gifts and treats from our One Stop Online Sealy Shop to support seal conservation and help a local maker to earn a living

  • Join our Wild Seal Supporter and Adoption Scheme for a one off payment or from as little as £3.50 a month

    Help Spread the Message

  • Distribute SRT’s signs, posters, leaflets and/or stickers on your patch

  • Attend events run by SRT and our wonderful partner organisations. We advertise these on our social media, so be sure to follow us!

Why not help to fundraise for us? You could:

  • Organise your own event - from a cake stall to a cycle ride

  • Bid on items in our online auctions

  • Donate money for seal conservation

  • Share any unwanted preloved items for us to raffle or auction

  • We always reuse packaging when sending out items, so feel free to send spare recycled boxes, envelopes and/or packing to us

Leave something in your will to help us to help Seals

  • By leaving a gift in your will to Seal Research Trust, you can create a lasting legacy that helps protect and conserve Britain's native wild seals for generations to come. Every gift, no matter its size, will support vital research, education and conservation efforts, ensuring a future where seals and people can continue to share our seas.

    Become a Corporate Partner

  • The Seal Research Trust doesn’t have membership fees, and relies on donations, legacies and funding from corporate partners for all of our income. We currently pay the equivalent of two full-time Rangers, everyone else working for the charity including all of the Officers and Trustees and our full-time Director are voluntary and do not take a salary for the work that we do. Equally, we operate with no overheads from renting or owning offices or property. This is important to us all as it ensures that money donated to our charity will be used directly to help seals and marine conservation projects. If you have a business and would like to learn more about the benefits of being a Corporate Partner (through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), then we would love to talk to you. Please send an email to secretary@sealresearchtrust.com today to receive our Corporate Partnership pack. We would love to hear from you.

Email seals@sealresearchtrust.com for more information about any of these ways to help SRT and seals!
